My name is Vincent van der Zee, and since early 2021 I have been part of the development team at Payt as a front-end developer. My role focuses mainly on the front end of the application: the look and feel, and many of the functionalities that our customers use. I consider it important to think carefully about usability – how easily users can work with our application.
After completing my degree in Computer Science, I began my search for a position in the field in which I specialised. I worked with a recruiter who took my personal preferences into account when suggesting potential employers. I valued a small-scale organisation with an informal working atmosphere. My very first interview was with Payt – and it turned out to be a perfect match.
Although I had little professional experience with the programming languages used at Payt, my potential and skills were recognised. This gave me the time and space to master the techniques during my first months, which I could soon apply to developing new functionalities. By now, I am fully integrated and feel completely at home at Payt. Thanks to my curiosity and experience, I play an active role in applying new techniques and developing features, such as the Get it. Together programme.
The variety of projects keeps me highly motivated. My colleagues contribute just as much to the pleasant, informal working atmosphere. We have a strong team that knows how to deliver a quality product, and that sense of togetherness is nurtured at Payt with catered lunches, staff outings, and recognition. In that respect, I could not wish for a better employer.
