On the way from A to B, we found a successful route C with the help of our first customers. We have not left this upward path. We have made ‘something’ out of ‘nothing’ – Rob Rustenburg, Director

The start of Payt, now ten years ago, marked the realisation of a long-held dream for me: to stand on my own two feet and become an entrepreneur. Even so, it was an exciting adventure and all the more enjoyable because I was able to take it on with people I had worked closely with long before Payt even began.

I still remember 15 April 2013 as if it were yesterday. That was the day Payt went live for the very first time. The marketing activities we had planned were due to follow shortly afterwards, and our ambitions and expectations were sky-high.

It quickly became clear that success would depend largely on our own efforts – and on the choices we made well beyond our comfort zone. You often see that phrase on inspiring posters, but in my experience it really is true: that is where the magic happens. On our journey from A to B, our first customers helped us discover a successful route C. We have never looked back since.

We built something out of nothing and developed a service with real added value. Most importantly, our customers recognise that value – and appreciate it. That is what truly matters. Everything else is a bonus and a collection of wonderful memories. Like our sponsorship of FC Groningen, for example. How often do you get the chance to experience something like that?

I’m looking forward to many more years at Payt – continuing to work with our customers on how we can make things even better, and building on our fantastic company together with our team.
